Abstract
1,176,111. Screen printing machines. HARWELL ENTERPRISES Inc. 23 Feb., 1968 [14 Dec., 1967], No. 8852/68. Heading B6C. In a screen printing machine in which the screen and squeegee are moved at different speeds vertically from the printed article 28, Fig. 6, after the printing stroke, the printing stroke of the squeegee is adjustable by a mechanism comprising a rack on a slide 87, Fig. 1, and an interengaging pinion 77. The squeegee 30 is reciprocated by a cable 62, Fig. 1, to which it is secured by means including a bracket 60. The ends of the cable are fixed to an oscillatable drum 68 which is actuated by a rack-and-pinion mechanism 74, 75. The stroke of the rack 75, which derives its reciprocation from a continuously rotating crank-shaft arrangement 16, and thus the stroke of the squeegee 30, depends upon the radial position of the pivot pin 76 of the rack 75 on the crank-shaft arrangement. This may be adjusted through rotation of the pinion 77 which moves the slide 87, on which the pin 76 is mounted, diametrically of the crank-shaft arrangement. The pinion and rack arrangement 77, 87 may be locked in the adjusted position.
