Abstract

1,218,983. Printing machine. O.M.S.O. Ltd. 16 Feb., 1968 [18 Feb., 1967], No. 7846/68. Heading B6C. Containers or other articles L to be printed on are carried on supports I by a conveyer comprising two continuous link chains A, B, one vertically above the other and connected by ribs H, running around single or paired toothed wheels C, D. Midway between the toothed wheels C, D the articles pass under serigraphical printing stations G, and are printed with two colours, one at each of two stations. Preferably the articles have cylindrical or conical surfaces. The conveyer carries them intermittently to under the printing apparatus proper, where while the conveyer is stationary each article is lifted between members 5, 25 to a printing position. The members 5, 25 are mounted on a frame which is lifted by rollers 3 on arms 4 acting on cams 2 and containers being printed on are rotated through gears 14, 20, a shaft within arm 4 and member 25. If the container surfaces to be printed on are conical the axis of rotation of the containers during printing may be inclined by rotating the separate end of arm 4 about its axis, with appropriate adjustment of member 5. Gear 14 is rotated backwards and forwards through a part of a revolution only by a connecting rod and linkage driven by a pin on one face of a cam 2.
