In a cross-bar distributor comprising crossed sets of contact strips 2 and 3 carried on opposite faces of an insulating plate 1, at least one contact set takes the form of a parallel array of circular wires located in individual grooves in the plate. In a first embodiment, Fig. 3 (and Figs. 1 and 2, not shown), both contact sets take this form, whereas in a second embodiment (Figs. 4-6, not.shown) only one contact set takes this form, the other set comprising a metal stamping (15) cut to provide the desired circuitry pattern. In both embodiments the wires may be secured in their grooves by heat deformation of the plate 1, which is of a thermoplastic material, and the plate has contactreceiving apertures (6) at the cross-over points of the contact sets 2 and 3. Connections between selected contacts 2 and 3 may be made by resilient U-shaped prongs (20, Fig. 8, not shown) releasably inserted in the apertures (6) to straddle the contacts. Upstanding resilient contact blades 11 may be secured to selected wires or circuit strips 2 for receiving electric components such as lampholders or fuses, and recesses 14 may be formed in the plate 1 for receiving multi-pin plugs whose pins intermesh with wires or circuit strips 2. Selected contacts 2 and 3 may be permanently interconnected by spheres or cylinders 10 located in apertures (6) and secured to the contacts by soldering or welding. In the second embodiment circuit strips 2 terminate in flat blades (18) at the edge of the plate 1 for receiving external connections.
