Abstract

1,176,003. Photo-electric direction finders. COMPAGNIE FBANCAISE THOMSON HOUSTON - HOTCHKISS BRANDT. 8 March, 1967 [8 March, 1966], No. 10995/67. Heading H4D. In a photo-electric target tracker, the azimuth and elevation information for the tracking servomotor system is obtained by slits in a disc 3 moving relative to an array 2 of contiguous photo-cells, the arrangement 2, 3 being at or near the focal plane of optical system 1. The incoming radiation may be the exhaust of an aeroplane, a winged missile, or a ballistic missile. The tracker may be on a missile. The density of photo-cells may be greatest at the centre of area 2. A computer not described gives the " X, Y " data and may calculate the trajectory of the target. Optical filters may be inserted. High discrimination against unwanted radiation is stated to be achieved.
