[Also in Division C3] Compounds, probably metal salts of the acid are obtained by reacting a mixture of dimeric and trimeric linoleic acid with a salt of Cr (II), Mn (II), Co (II), Ni (II), Zn (II) or Cd (II). In the examples, a mixture of 95% dimer, 4% trimer, and 1% monomer in acetone is reacted with nickel or zinc acetate tetrahydrate in methanol. The zinc derivative of a mixture of 75% dimer, 24% trimer and 1% monomer is also specified.
