Abstract

Metal carboxylates produced by reaction of a dimer, trimer or higher polymer of an unsatd. 18C fatty acid with a salt of a metal of Group IB, 6A, 7A or 8, pref. Cu, Cr, Mn, Ni or Co. Increasing disperse dye-receptivity of polyolefins. 100 g. of linoleic acid dimer (95% dimer, 4% trimer, 1% monomer) in 600 cc. acetone were vigorously mixed with 44 g. nickel acetate tetrahydrate in 60 cc. MeOH. A precipitate formed immediately, its Ni content being 9.8%.
