Abstract

1,175,056. Pressure door; joint making packing. I. W. S. NOMINEE CO. Ltd. 20 Dec., 1966 [23 Dec., 1965], No. 54660/65. Headings F2B and F2P. A vessel for treating a keratinous material has means for providing the inside of the vessel with steam at a first pressure, a joint between an access opening of the vessel and a closure for the opening, sealing means between the two faces 14, 15 which meet at the joint comprising an inflatable ring 23 connected to a source of fluid pressure, and means 22 to retain at a pressure higher than the first pressure a supply of a second fluid, which is not harmful to the treating of the keratinous material, on the side of the inflatable ring remote from the inside of the vessel. The means 22 also comprises an inflatable ring and both rings are supplied with compressed air. Water is supplied between the seals, and this prevents the ingress of air.
