Abstract

1,174,827. Winding mechanism for roller screens. L. B. S. HEROU. 15 May. 1967 [16 May, 1966], No. 22330/67. Heading E2M. A winding-up mechanism for roller screens (see Figs. 1 and 2) comprises a coil spring 5 placed around and coaxial to a core 1 and having one end attached thereto, the opposite end of said spring being connected to a drum 6 surrounding said spring and serving as a winding core for a flexible web 11 constituting said roller screen, the mechanism being characterized in that one or several rotatable but axially non-displaceable sleeves 3 are provided around said core. The outer diameter of said sleeve(s) being smaller than the inner diameter of said coil spring when the spring is not under tension. The sleeve(s) may extend from the drumsecured end of the spring to about two thirds of the length of the spring. In a modification (see Fig. 3) there is provided a further sleeve 12 having an inner diameter larger than the outer diameter of sleeve 3 and an outer diameter smaller than the inner diameter of the coil spring, the further sleeve being secured to the drum 6, 7.
