Abstract
1,174,489. Two-part couplings. TEKTRONIX Inc. 11 Aug., 1967 [18 Aug., 1966], No. 36965/67. Heading H2E. In a voltage selection device which enables an electrical appliance to be operated from a number of alternative supply voltages, an insulating base member 10 secured in an aperture in a wall 12 of the appliance has embedded therein a plurality of conductive sockets 16 ... 33, the inner ends of which are connected to tapping points on the primary windings of a transformer inside the appliance wall and to fuse contact terminals (Fig. 2, not shown). Pairs of contacts 16 ... 33 are selectively connected by link contacts 36, 38 and 48, 50 in plug members 34, 46 respectively, which are captivated on the base member 10 by integral spigots 40, 52 which pass through a hole 42 and a slot 54 respectively in the base member and are secured against complete removal by retaining clips 44, 56. A detachable cover 70 which is normally secured on the base member 10, carries cartridge fuses 84, 86 which engage fuse contacts such as 62, 64 in recesses 58, 60 in the base member. Access to plugs 34, 46 can be attained only when cover 70 is removed; this necessitates the removal of fuses 84, 86 and the consequent isolation of sockets 16 ... 33. Indicator pins 88, 90 on plugs 34, 46 co-operate with apertures 92 ... 96 in cover 70 to indicate the plugging arrangements.
