Abstract

117,420. Holt, M. March 5, 1918. Blind persons, teaching.-A pad for aiding blind or weak-sighted persons in writing letters, &c., or in addressing or affixing stamps to envelopes, is provided with raised lines c adapted to be felt by the writer through a superposed sheet of paper or envelope. As shown in Fig. 1, the raised lines may be formed by affixing a piece of paper b with folds c to a base a; alternatively, ribs may be pressed out of a cardboard or metal base. A number of sheets of paper and a cover f may be attached to one edge of the pad. Vertical lines may be provided for guidance in writing columns of figures. The pad, Fig. 3, is adapted to be inserted in an envelope, and is provided with a raised frame e for determining the position of the stamp.
