Abstract

1,174,155. Acrylonitrile copolymer composite fibre. JAPAN EXLAN CO. Ltd. 28 March, 1967 [26 March, 1966], No. 14166/67. Heading B5B. A wet spun composite fibre comprises two dissimilar polymeric materials in lamellar longitudinal conjugation, each of said polymeric materials consisting of acrylonitrile which has been copolymerized with 5 to 15% of at least one hydrophobic non-crystalline high polymer forming monomer, different proportions of this monomer being present in each polymeric material with the difference being from 0.5 to 6% by weight, the polymeric materials containing also different amounts of strong acid groups, the smaller amount being present in the polymer containing the greater amount of hydrophobic non-crystalline high polymer forming monomer the difference in the amount being from 4 to 30 multi equivalents per 100 grams of polymer so as to impart to each of the polymeric materials the same initial rate of dyeing, the fibre having three-dimensional coil crimps of water-reversibility of less than 0.85 at 3 derniers.
