Abstract
A two-component juxtaposed acrylic fiber production process characterized by juxtaposed spinning of two spinning solutions, each containing an acrylonitrile-based copolymer, the two copolymers having very close molecular weights, which comprise, in addition to acrylonitrile, at least one ester selected from the group consisting of acrylic and vinyl esters, and at least one monomer containing sulfonic groups, and having a) an average content of the monomer units derived from said ester comprised between 4.5 and 5.7%, the difference between the contents of said units of the two copolymers, expressed as a percentage, comprised between 1.9 and 3.2, b) an average content of the monomer units derived from said sulfonic group-containing comonomer comprised between 40 and 60 meg of acid per kg of fiber, the difference between the contents of said units of the two largest copolymers not being or 25 meg of acid per kg of fiber, with the copolymer containing the highest percentage of monomer units derived from the ester also containing the highest percentage of monomer units derived from the comonomer containing sulfonic groups.
