Abstract

1,173,992. Urea-calcium nitrate complex. OFFICE NATIONAL INDUSTRIEL DE L'AZOTE. 25 April, 1967 [26 April, 1966], No. 18946/67. Heading C2C. A urea-calcium nitrate complex, Ca(NO 3 ) 2 .4 CO(NH 2 ) 2 , is obtained, in admixture with ammonium nitrate, ammonium phosphate and calcium hydrogen phosphate in a fertilizer composition, by mixing calcium nitrate tetrahydrate, obtained from nitric acid attack on natural phosphates and impregnated with acid mother-liquor, with an ammoniacal urea solution and concentrating and granulating the resultant product. The urea solution may be obtained from a urea synthesis operation and may contain 70-82% urea and 0À5-2% ammonia (free, or as ammonium carbamate). The reaction may be carried out with calcium nitrate dissolved in its water of crystallization at 41‹ C.
