Abstract

1,173,750. Skein removing apparatus. CROON & LUCKE MASCHINENFABRIK G.m.b.H, 21 Dec., 1966 [28 July, 1966], No. 57263/66. Headings D1F and D1J. A skein removing apparatus 40, having rods 41 insertable within skeins wound on winding baskets 7 of adjustable winding diameter of a skein winding frame, is brought into operative connection with the winding frame when the skeins are fully wound and the driving motor for the baskets has been interrupted. The apparatus 40 causes actuation of a first switch 36 to provide a second interruption of the circuit of the driving motor circuit for safety reasons and actuation of a second switch 45 which effects through a reversible motor reduction of the winding basket diameter to a predetermined minimum value so causing transfer of the skeins to the rods 41. Subsequent withdrawal of apparatus 40 automatically releases the two switches causing first operation of the reversible motor to adjust the winding baskets to their maximum winding diameters and secondly to cause switching on of the winding motor. The baskets each comprise spurs 7 connected by adjustable struts 3, 4, 5 to a central spindle 8, and the rods 41 are at such a height that they enter the winding baskets a little below and inside the outside edge of the spars forming the basket at the topmost position (Fig. 2a). A pivotable frame 30 mounted on the winding frame normally surrounds and protects the baskets during winding but is caused to upwardly pivot due to it riding along sloping part 40b-40c of apparatus 40 when it is inserted. The upward pivot of frame 30 causes actuation of the first switch. The second switch is actuated by the middle web of a T-shaged base of the skein removing apparatus which enters free end first into a guide 37 on the winding frame. A pair of rods 41 are provided for association with each winding basket. The gearing and electrical circuitry of the winding frame is illustrated in Figure 5, not shown. The winding frames are equipped with counting mechanism for preselection of the turns of yarn for each completed skein and. by means of which the frame is switched off automatically when the skeins have reached the desired number of turns.
