Abstract

1,173,713. Injection moulding. ANKERWERK NURNBERG G.m.b.H. 22 Feb., 1968 [18 March, 1967], No. 8662/68. Heading B5A. Mould parts 21, 22 on fixed and movable plates 2 and 7 respectively are brought together and separated by toggle linkages 17, 19 and 18, 20 actuated by a toothed piston 12 moved in one direction or the other in a casing carried by rods 5 by fluid supplied to an inlet 24 or 30. The links 17 and 18 are connected to gears 13 and 14 respectively engaging teeth on opposite sides of the piston. When the piston is moved to the left to close the mould the joint bolts connecting the pairs of links 17, 19 and 18, 20 rest in recesses 25, 26 respectively. An extension 9 of the casing includes a piston 8 slidable in a housing 4, so that with the mould closed a force is applied to the closed mould by the supply of pressure fluid to a chamber 27 via an inlet 28; this pressure is relieved after the injection step. The position of the assembly comprising the plate 7 and casing on the rods 5 can be adjusted for the reception of moulds of different sizes by feeding pressure fluid to inlets 32 or 28.
