117,367. Cary, C. E., Dixon, A., and Brayshaw, B. Oct. 22, 1917. Helical springs.-Subsidiary spring adjustments for use with varying loads on motor-vehicles &c. A screwed rod f is mounted on the spring iron k and passes through a cylinder a attached to the chassis of the vehicle. The cylinder a has annular caps e' which form end bearings for sleeves d against which bear the ends of the spring b. Long screw nuts e engaging the screwed rod f pass through the annular caps e<1> and can bear on the sleeves d so as to adjust the tension of the spring in an upward or downward direction or in both directions at the same time. In a modified form, two or more helical springs of different strengths may be arranged in place of the spring b.
