An atomizer suitable for spraying crops comprises three radially unconfined cooperating cups or discs 6 of substantially uniform thickness adapted to be rotated by an electric motor 4, and a spray liquid container 11 arranged to feed the liquid to a space 8 within' the discs by gravity through a tube 13. The space 8 is formed by central apertures in two of the discs, the aperture in the centre disc being greater than that in the disc adjacent the motor whereby an even distribution of liquid is obtained. The discs are formed with sharp edges and the plastics container 11 is provided with closure means which seals the container when it is removed from the apparatus. The embodiment of Fig. 1 is portable and a switch 3 connects a plurality of dry cell batteries into the motor circuit. In the portable or non-portable embodiment of Fig. 2 (not shown), at least three discs (33) are rotated by an electric motor (30) and the spray liquid is fed under pressure through a pipe (37) and a nozzle (38). The discs may have serrated edges and may be dished in one direction and then in the opposite direction and are advantageously spaced apart at a distance just greater than the distance at which capillary action would occur with the respective spray liquid. If the discs are rotated by an electric motor (30), Fig. 2, secured to a helicopter, the pilot may adjust the speed of rotation with rheostats. The discs may alternatively be rotated by a combustion engine or an aircraft slipstream. If the embodiment is portable a fan (not shown) may be provided to direct the spray.
