Abstract

1,173,240. Tufting machines. SINGERCOBBLE Ltd. 12 Sept., 1968 [2 Nov., 1967], No. 49759/67. Heading D1G. A tufting machine has a pusher member 16 which supports previously inserted tufts 15 out of the path of movement of needles 11 at least during part of the machine cycle. As shown the pusher member 16 is lowered immediately before the needles reach it during insertion and as the tufts do not drop so quickly the needles pass the tufts without interference. In an alternative embodiment the pusher member may be mounted on a support above the line of needle movement and then may remain in position as the needles insert the next row of tufts.
