Abstract

1,172,075. Inductive transducers. ELLIOTT BROS (LONDON) Ltd. June 15, 1967 [June 18, 1966], No.27332/66. Heading G1N. In a variable reluctance transducer, comprising an E-shaped core having a primary winding C Fig. 3 on its centre leg and two matched secondary windings A, B on its two outer legs and a movable armature (not shown), the windings A, B, connected in phase opposition, are connected to output circuitry via switches which are closed to short circuit a respective one of the windings when the armature has moved a pre-set distance from the datum position. The effect of the switches is therefore to ensure that the polarity of the output is the same for a particular direction of movement of the armature. The switches comprise printed conductive strips 20-23, and a wiper 25 rotated with the armature.
