Abstract

1,171,673. Electromagnetic counters. ENGLISH NUMBERING MACHINES Ltd. 24 April, 1968 [9 May, 1967], No. 21395/67. Heading G4D. A check signal is returned at each step of an electromagnetically operatedmechanical counter. The digit wheel a-j of one of several counters 3 which is to be stepped is selected by potential over a corresponding digit diode 10 and a counter lead 24. Input pulses at 27 combine with potential on lead 28 to set a bi-stable device 25 to state b, whereupon monostable 23 pulses NAND gate 21 to cause transistor 20 to pulse magnet 4 to advance the counter wheel 31. Associated with the wheel 31 is a wiper 30 which passes over a contact 32 momentarily earthing point 35 and resetting bi-stable 25 as a check that the pulse has been counted. If the wiper 30 fails to move the bi-stable 25 remains in state b and a lamp 37 and horn 36 are operated. In a modification, Fig. 4, operating the counter 100 causes energization of relay 105 and opening of contacts 102. A check signal through 107 recloses the contacts.
