Abstract
1,171,124. Tractor fork-lift attachments. NU-WAY BENSON Ltd. 11 May, 1967 [14 May, 1966], No. 21526/66. Heading B8H. A load supporting fork 18 is moved up a mast 10 mounted on the lift links of a tractor by raising the lift links. A cable 33 extends from the lifting carriage and pasess over a pulley 50 at the top of the mast and a pulley 52 mounted on an arm pivoted to the tractor to an anchorage 54 on the mast. A hydraulic ram 60 may be provided to assist in raising the mast. The fork 18 is pivotally supported at 20 on the lifting carriage and is arranged to tilt towards the tractor when raised from its lowermost position in which the tines are inclined downwardly. The fork is coupled by a pin- and-slot connection to an arm 37 pivoted to an arm of a bell-crank on the lifting to carriage. The other arm of the bell-crank constitutes the anchorage of the cable 33 on the lifting carriage. On raising the lifting carriage, the cable 33 rotates the bell-crank counterclockwise against the action of a spring, Fig. 3 (not shown), thereby moving the arm 37 rearwardly to tilt the fork tines upwardly. A manually-operable brake is provided on the lifting carriage, Fig. 5 (not shown), whereby, if the tension in the cable is released, the forks may be lowered with the lifting carriage in any position.
