Abstract

1,171,065. Perfluorinated cyclopentanes and cyclopentenes. MONTECATINI EDISON S.p.A. 30 Jan., 1968 [3 Feb., 1967], No. 4691/68. Heading C2C. Perfluoro (methylene cyclopentane), stated to be novel, and perfluoro (1-methyl cyclopentene) are prepared by the photoisomerization of decafluorocyclohexene in the vapour phase, alone or in admixture with inert gases in the presence of ultra-violet radiation having a wavelength below 2000Š at temperatures of 10‹ to 70‹ C. and under a pressure of 40 mm/Hg to 1 atmosphere absolute. The compounds are used as intermediates in the preparation of fluorinated polymers.
