Abstract
1,170,379. Zone-melting, &c. WESTERN ELECTRIC CO. Inc. 8 July, 1968 [17 July, 1967], No. 32423/68. Heading B1S. [Also in Divisions Cl and H4] Rubidium iron fluoride is first zone-melted in a boat of platinum or graphite in an atmosphere of nitrogen or helium and then progressively crystallized and annealed in a Bridgman crucible of platinum or graphite having a tapered bottom in an inert atmosphere or a vacuum. A portion of the iron may be replaced by cobalt, vanadium, nickel, or manganese.
