Abstract

1,170,003. Wood-preservatives. DEUTSCHE SOLVAY-WERKE G.m.b.H. 11 Jan., 1967 [15 Jan., 1966], No. 1637/67. Heading A5E. An agent for impregnating wood, colouring it and preserving it against deterioration comprises an aqueous solution of at least one wood-preservative salt, at least one organic pigment, and from 0.5 to 5.0% of an electrolyte-resistant dispersion of a synthetic polymer, which dispersion has a solids content of from about 50% to 60%. In examples the wood preservative salts used are K 2 CrO 4 + NH t HF 2 + H 3 BO 3 + Na 2 SO 4 + KHF 2 , and KHF 2 + NH 4 HF 2 + H 3 BO 3 + Na 2 SO 4 + K 2 Cr 2 O 7 + Na 2 HAsO 4 ; and the pigments are phthalocyanine brown and mono-azo yellow. The polymer may be polyvinyl acetate, polyvinyl propionate or a polyacrylate, treated with a polysaccharide, an hydroxycellulose or an oxyethylcellulose. Optional ingredients are paraffins, wax, oils, phthalates, alkyl aryl phosphate, citric acid esters and hydroxybenzoic acid esters.
