Abstract

116,932. Gerken, P. L. Meurs-. June 29,1917. Fire-bars and grates.-Water-cooled grate bars are made by first forming a solid bar and subsequently boring a water passage therethrough. Cast-iron bars may be formed with flanges b at their ends, shown in Fig. 1, to enable them to be bolted to water chambers d, or to other bars of similar construction. Two or more bars may be fcrmed cf one unit with a common flange, as shown in Fig. 3. Instead of connecting the bars to a water chamber, they may be connected together by pipe bands or elbows m with union joints as shown in Fig. 5, the bars being preferably formed in pairs.
