Abstract

1,169,126. Portable bridges; bridge-laying vehicles. DR-ING. H.C.F. PORSCHE K.G. 26 March, 1968 [31 March, 1967], No. 14495/68. Heading E1G. In a portable bridge composed of two similar portions A, B which for transport are superposed on a vehicle 1 and for erection are connected end to end before off-loading, the lower portion A is slidably mounted on roller pairs 11, 12 on a pivoted front boom 8 so that it can be slid from under the portion B while the latter is temporarily held raised by supports 22, 24. The supports 22, 24, are then lowered and the aligned bridge portions are connected by transverse power-actuated rods (not shown). The complete bridge is slid along the boom 8 to engage end stops 42, and is lowered into position by hydraulic cylinders 10. Finally, the roller pairs 11, 12 are disengaged through recesses 43. Each bridge portion comprises two spaced road tracks 3, 4 and on its lower chords has inwardly-facing guide channels 7 engaged by spherically-mounted roller pairs 11, 12 pivoted on the central-boom 8. Longitudinal sliding movement is effected by hydraulically-driven gears 18 engaging rack teeth 20 on the channels 7. The support 22 comprises a normallyhorizontal pair of hydraulically-actuated arms carrying rollers 23. The support 24 comprises a hydraulically-actuated boom pivoted to a bracket 30 and comprising spaced pairs of arms carrying transverse locking cylinders 32 by which the boom 24 is detachably pivoted to the portion B.
