Abstract

1,168,383. Assembling blowers. TORIN CORP. 8 April, 1968, No. 16736/68. Heading B3A. [Also in Division F1] A blower sub-assembly comprising a housing 12, Fig. 4, with an outlet opening 16 and at least one inlet opening 14, an impeller 18 and a motor support bracket 54, is assembled by inserting the impeller and the motor support bracket into the housing through one of the openings, securing the motor support bracket to the housing by fasteners 80, and then attaching the impeller in its correct position within the housing by temporarily-fitted fastening means (not shown). The latter may comprise selftapping screws (84) and plastics tubular spacers (86), Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown), the screws being passed through holes 36 in the impeller and through the spacers (86) and screwed into holes 72 in the motor support bracket. The screws (84) provide electrically conductive connections so that the various parts of the assembled subassembly can be surface-coated as by electroplating or electrophoretic painting. The subassembly may then be shipped to a customer for assembly of the electric driving motor 20 which is secured in position by the interlocking of spider arms 78 with the motor support bracket, and clamping a segmented ring (76), Fig. 1 (not shown), connected to the arms, tightly around a portion 46 of the motor casing. The temporarily-fitted screws and spacers are then removed.
