Abstract

1,168,087. Automatic control of liquid concentration. FISONS FERTILIZER Ltd. Feb.20, 1967 [Jan.28, 1966], No.3864/66. Heading G3R. Apparatus for automatically controlling the concentration of a liquid, such as phosphoric acid, contained in an evaporator 1 comprises a thermally sensitive device 5 placed in the liquid to provide a signal representative of the boiling point of the liquid and a transducer 6 providing a signal representing the pressure, and hence the boiling point, of the vapour in the evaporator 1 above the liquid, the two signals being fed to a recording controller 8 which is operative upon a valve 9 to control the admission of the liquid to be concentrated to the evaporator by way of a feed line 2 thus to maintain a given temperature difference between that of the liquid and of the vapour above the liquid so as to provide the derived concentration in the liquid. The concentrated liquid is withdrawn by means of an outlet 3 and the vapour by an outlet 4. The device 5 may be a thermocouple or a resistance thermometer.
