Abstract

1,167,634. Grinding. B. & I. NATHAN Ltd. 13 Aug., 1968 [17 May, 1967], No. 22928/67. Heading B3D. A flexible abrasive band 1 comprises flexible attachment means 7, 8 on opposite side edges of the band for holding the band against a backing surface. The backing surface may be the outer surface of a rotatable inflatable drum 3 formed with end plates 4. The attachment means consist of tapes which are secured to the edges of the band and co-operate with pairs of slots 13, 14 in the end plates 4, the tapes being passed outwardly through slots 13 and inwardly through slots 14 while the drum is deflated so that when the drum is inflated, the tapes hold the band against the surface of the drum. In another embodiment, the tapes are secured by adhesive into loops which are engaged with U-shaped slots in the end plates 4.
