Abstract

1,167,619. Fluid-pressure brakes KNORR-BREMSE G.m.b.H. 7 April, 1967 [7 April, 1966], No. 16172/67. Heading F2F. In a railway vehicle compressed air braking system a driver's brake valve arrangement includes an electropneumatic pressure regulating valve 12 for pre-control which is adjustable via a switch, an electric motor 9, and a potentiometer 11, and is arranged to be capable of being separately excited by an automatic, electric control unit 28. The electropneumatic driver's brake valve arrangement is provided with two actuating locations at which there is provided a driver's brake lever 1 and 1<SP>1</SP>, a quick-action brake lever 2 and 2<SP>1</SP> and an equalizer switch 3 and 3<SP>1</SP>. A shut-off switch 4 is also provided. On movement into the braking position, the brake levers 1 and 1<SP>1</SP> close a switch 5 and 5<SP>1</SP> respectively and, on movement in the release direction, a switch 6 and 6<SP>1</SP> respectively. If the release position of the brake levers 1 and 1<SP>1</SP> is exceeded, the switch 7 or 7<SP>1</SP> is additionally closed in a filling charge position. On closing of the switches 5 and 5<SP>1</SP> respectively, an electric motor 9 is started in one direction of rotation by means of a pole reverser 8 and on closing of the switches 6 and 6<SP>1</SP> the electric motor 9 is started in a direction of rotation the reverse of the previous direction by means of the pole reverser 8. The electric motor 9 operates through a gearing to move a potentiometer 11 which supervizes the excitation of an electro-pneumatic regulating valve 12. From a main reservoir pipe 13 a pipe line 14 leads via a pressure regulator 15 to the regulating valve 12 which supplies pressure reduced according to its excitation via a pipe line 16 to a relay valve 17. The relay valve 17 controls the pressure in the main air pipe 18 to control the brake elements of the vehicle of the train corresponding to the pressure in the pipe line 16. When the switch 7 or 7<SP>1</SP> is closed, a magnetic valve 19 is opened which, by venting a pipe line 20 leading to the relay valve 17, releases a high-pressure filling charge into the main air pipe 18. On closure of the equalizer switch 3 or 3<SP>1</SP>, a magnetic valve 21 is opened and fills a time reservoir 22 with compressed air to effect the gradual attenuating low pressure filling period via the relay valve 17. When the shut-off switch 4 is closed, a magnetic valve 23 is opened, which effects complete shutting off of the main air pipe 18 from any connections within the relay valve 17. When the quickaction brake lever 2 or 2<SP>1</SP> is actuated, the main air pipe 18 is discharged to atmosphere through a large cross-section valve 25 or 25<SP>1</SP> and, at the same time, by the closing of a switch 26 or 26<SP>1</SP> the magnetic valve 23 is energized for shutting off the main air pipe 18. The regulating valve is also supervized through a wire line 27 by an electrical control unit 28 and a limit switch 29 such that the control unit 28 can only influence the regulating valve 12 when the limit switch 29 is closed and the potentiometer 11 is set for the running or release position.
