Abstract
1,166,926. Metal pouring apparatus. FURUKAWA CHUZO K.K. 4 April, 1967 [8 April, 1966], No. 15374/67. Heading B3F. [Also in Division B8] An automatic device for ladling, transporting and pouring molten metal from a molten metal bath 12 to a pouring basin 16, which may feed a runner for a mould or a plunger sleeve of a die casting machine, comprises a support framework 1 having guide means 3 for a pair of guide pins 9, 9<SP>1</SP> on a lever 8 carrying a ladle 10. The guide means 3 comprise grooves and slots 3a, 3b, 3c and 3d in side plates (1a), (1b), (Fig. 3, not shown) and the lever 8 is moved by a loop-chain 4 reciprocated by a motor 6. The ladle 10 is lowered into the molten metal bath to a controlled depth by means of a conductor rod 11 mounted on the lever 8 and connected electrically through contacts 14, 15 and a relay 26 to the motor 6. A stopper 16<SP>1</SP> at the pouring basin automatically tips and pours the ladle 10. To adjust the height of the ladle 10 at the pouring basin 16 the framework 1 is mounted on members 17, 18 and is swingable by means of a jack 22. The bottom of the ladle 10 is sloped to ensure that it tips one way and fills when lowered into the molten metal bath 12 in the holding furnace 23. A timer device ensures that the ladle 10 stays at the pouring basin 16 long enough to empty itself.
