Abstract

1,166,605. Valves. M. G. DIXON (H. HANSENS EFTF A.S.). 10 Oct., 1966, No. 45192/66. Heading F2V. A valve may be operated by a permanently connected hydraulic motor 16 or by an axially stationary hand wheel 12, the supply to the motor being controlled by a by-pass valve 20. The hand wheel is located against axial movement and is in driving engagement with a gear 13 meshing with a pinion 15 on the motor which may be a gear or vane piston type. Instead of a rising stem 9, a screw-threaded connection with the valve itself may be used, the thread pitch being self-locking to prevent accidental movement. The valve may also be replaced by a butterfly valve actuated by a worm gear with the motor and hand wheel mounted at opposite ends of the worm. The valve may be used in a gas works, oil refinery or chemical plant or as a bulkhead or sea valve in a ship.
