1,166,433. Isocyanate adhesive solutions. FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER A.G. 12 Jan., 1968 [12 Jan., 1967], No. 1786/68. Headings C3P, C3Q and C3R. Isocyanate adhesive solutions comprise an adhesive and a polyisocyanate in a solvent, the polyisocyanate comprising a polyisocyanate of the formula wherein A represents a phenylene nucleus or two phenylene nuclei which are linked together by a linear or branched alkylene group and may be substituted by chlorine atoms, alkyl groups or nitro groups, and R 1 , R 2 and R 3 are hydrogen or the same or different ring substituents. The adhesive may be a natural or synthetic rubber and a polyether or polyester or linear polyurethanes derived therefrom. Suitable solvents are methylene chloride, trichloroethylene, ethyl acetate and methyl ethyl ketone. Several tetraisocyanates are listed, those specifically exemplified being 1,3-di-(2,4-diisocyanato-phenoxy) - benzene, 4,4<SP>1</SP> - di - (2,4 - diisocyanatophenoxy)-diphenyl dimethylmethane and 4,41- di - (2,4 - diisocyanatophenoxy)-diphenylmethane. Exemplified adhesives are pale crepe rubber, chlorinated rubber, chloroprene rubber, nitrile rubber, and a linear polyurethane derived from a polyester of adipic acid and ethylene glycol and toluene diisocyanate.
