Abstract

116,589. Nixon, C. H. July 27, 1917. Barrel and cylindrical hinges; attaching to articles.-A hinge adapted to permit of the adjustment of doors relatively to the jambs or casings comprises a double joint, one of which moves freely to allow the door to open and close, and the other is friction tight but can be moved by force when it is desired to adjust the door. The hinge consists of a leaf 5 secured to the jamb 1 and provided with two or more barrels 9, a leaf 6 secured to the door 2 and provided with two or more barrels 11, and one or more double-barrelled connecting-links 12. The pintle 13 extends freely through the barrels 9, 12 but the pintle 14 fits tightly in the barrels 11, 12 and may be pinned to one or more of the barrels 12. The door 2 swings about the pintle 13, but may be adjusted relatively to the jamb 1 by forcing the leaves 6, 5 apart, as shown in dotted lines in Fig. 2,
