Abstract
1,165,190. Wells &c. TEXACO DEVELOPMENT CORP. 20 Dec., 1966 [21 Dec., 1965], No. 57053/66. Heading E1F. A well bore , 10 penetrating a plurality of vertically spaced, hydrocarbon - bearing productive zone A, B, C is completed by installing tubing strings 18, 20 and isolating the zones, e.g. by packers 22 in the cased part and by cement 14a in the inclined part. Pipe members 24 are inserted in string 18 adjacent each zone, each member having an inlet chamber 28 connecting via an adjustable choke with the inlet of a flow meter retrievably mounted in member 24 such that fluid from another zone cannot enter therein. Gas from the zone leaves the top of the flowmeter and liquids from the bottom. Fluids from other zones flow around bypass 49. Thus gas rises to the top of string 18 and liquids pass to a U-bend (or alternatively a sump) and are pumped to the surface via string 20. After installation of the strings and prior to insertion of the flowmeters, a perforating device is lowered into each member 24 to make perforations 16, member 24 being subsequently sleered.
