Abstract

1,165,107. Cleaning carding-engines. LUWA A.G. 16 May, 1968 [17 May, 1967], No. 23428/68. Addition to 1126254. Heading DIF. In apparatus for pneumatically removing waste from the space beneath a carding machine according to the parent specification, the suction chamber comprises a housing of curvilinear (approximately spiral) cross-section uniform along the length thereof, and the funnel or inlet passages (of rectilinear crosssection) leading into the housing is defined in part by a side wall longitudinal to the chamber and in part by a longitudinal curved edge portion of the housing spaced from the wall. Impurities entrained by a swirling air flow in the housing are removed from the area of the carding frame through a duct. Two contradirectional swirling air flows may be produced in the housing by leading two suction pipes obliquely or inclinably thereinto, the flows merging into a common suction orifice.
