Abstract

1,164,849. Paper laminates. NATIONAL LEAD CO. 1 Dec., 1966 [10 Dec., 1965], No. 53927/66. Heading B5N. [Also in Divisions Cl, C3 and D2] A paper laminate is produced by impregnating strips of filter paper with a slurry of TiO 2 pigment in a solution of a melamine- or ureaformaldehyde resin in water/alcohol, curing at 140‹ C., stacking the strips, and hot pressing at 1500 p.s.i. and 149‹ C. The TiO 2 has been coated with 2-15% by wt. of hydrous Al 2 O 3 and SiO 2 and calcined at a temperature of at least 200‹ C. (see Division C1).
