[Also in Division B8] In a pneumatic tobacco feeding system, tobacco is fed from a feed-in station 10 to two main feed conduits 12 that are connected via branch outlets 4 of serially connected pneumatic two-ways switch valves Bl, B2 . . . B3 to discharge units S of cigarette making machines C1, C2 . . . . Cn and thence via a manifold 14 to a suction and filtering unit 11. The valves Bl, B2 . . . B3, such as those disclosed in Specification 1164659 are automatically switched to a particular outlet 3 or 4 by the application of suction to that particular outlet. A programmed call for tobacco by the discharge unit S of any one machine C1, C2 . . . Cn thus automatically switches its respective valve B1, B2 ... B3 (except for the last machines Cn) to its outlet 4 and switches all other valves Bl, B2 . B3 upstream thereof to their outlets 3.
