Abstract
1,164,381. Adjusting vehicle suspension height. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. 10 Jan., 1967, No. 1262/67. Heading B7D. [Also in Division B8] In a vehicle having a load or passenger carrying platform suspended by air springs 3, the platform can be lowered to facilitate the loading or unloading of goods and/or passengers by exhausting the air springs 3, and an interlock arrangement prevents bowing of the platform when the vehicle is in motion. The platform 1 is suspended on one or more axles 2 by the springs 3 and trailing arms 4. To lower the platform a valve 6 which normally supplies air to the springs from a reservoir 5 is closed and exhaust valves 7 are opened. The interlock mechanism prevents opening of the exhaust valves 7 when the vehicle is moving or, alternatively, when the engine is running.
