Abstract
1,164,119. Fog-dispersal. E. UPDALE. 30 Nov., 1966 [1 Nov., 1965], No. 46126/65. Heading A1X. An apparatus for fog-dispersal comprises a box through which fog-laden air can pass, the box containing a pair of magnets arranged with like poles juxtaposed and an electric coil adjacent to the gap between the like poles; the coil being connected to an oscillatory circuit so as to produce an oscillating field superimposed upon the steady field produced by the magnets. Preferably, the steady field is produced by two electro-magnets arranged co-axially, one magnet being rotatable about a vertical axis to vary the steady fieldstrength. The box has an opening in its top and a perforated base, permitting the ingress of air, covered by a porous pad which may be loaded with water or other vapourisable liquid. Heat or light sources may be provided within the box. The oscillatory circuit is a conventional transistorised printed circuit located on a shelf in the box and energised by a battery.
