Abstract

1,163,860. Electric resistance heaters. ELMATIC (CARDIFF) Ltd. 19 Aug., 1968, No. 39501/68. Heading H5H. A cylindrical heater jacket for the barrel of an injection moulding or extrusion machine comprises inner and outer shells 15, 16, both formed as aluminium castings and detachably secured together by bolts 22, the inner shell 15 having a depression 19 for a resistance wire 20 embedded in refractory mineral insulating material, and the outer shell 16 having external cooling fins 21. The jacket is formed in two main semi-cylindrical sections 10, 11, joined together by a pair of securing plates 13, Fig. 2 (not shown). One of the shells 15, 16 may incorporate internal cooling passages for a cooling fluid such as water.
