Abstract
<PICT:1107175/C1/1> Glass is subjected to pressure in a cooled mould whilst at the same time the glass is heated e.g. by the joule effect. A better surface finish is thus obtained. Mould 5 and die 7 with mould spaces 28, 25 are cooled by water through pipes 30, 31 and 21, 22 and have metal plate covers 26, 23 insulated by layers of mica 24, 26. The electric current passes from terminals 36 through the mould 5 and die 7 and the hot glass.
