End handles; fixing by extended tangs of special forms.-Handles of knives, forks, and the like are secured by a separate tang having a notched end which, after passing through the bore of the handle, is fixed in the bolster by subjecting the bolster to compression. As shown, the handle e is bored for the passage of a tang b having at its outer end a knob or cap d, and its inner end notched at g so that it may be securely fixed by pressing the metal of the bolster c firmly upon it and into the notches. The enlarged end d may be embedded or enclosed in a recess in the end of the handle e.
