Abstract

1,162,646. Hydraulic accumulators. HYDROTROLE Ltd. Jan. 18, 1967 [March 11, 1966], No. 10703/66. Heading F1P. An hydraulic accumulator comprises a rigid body 11, 15 having therein a flexible bladder 12 loaded exteriorly by gas and clamped by its lipped mouth 12a between a clamping ring 14 fitted in a counter-bore within the body 11 and a base plate 13, the bladder having radially extending ribs (126) which collapse against one another when the bladder is deflated. The bladder is provided with disc-shaped inserts 14a adjacent its mouth. The inserts 16 seat on inlet ports 13a in the base plate 13 when the pressure of liquid supplied to the bladder falls below a certain value. As shown, the bladder mouth is of circular cross-section and is provided with four equi-spaced radially extending ribs (12b), and the inserts 16 are disposed between the ribs for seating on a respective one of the inlet ports 13a. The bladder may alternatively have a square or triangular cross-section, Figs.4-11 (not shown) and in each case the corners progressively merge into a ribbed configuration in a direction away from the mouth. A port 19 for gas is provided in the end body port 15 which also has a cushioning ring 18 in contact therewith and held in position by a circlip 17.
