Abstract

1,162,535. Lift control systems. EXPRESS LIFT CO. Ltd. 10 Aug., 1967 [19 Aug., 1966], No. 37271/66. Heading B8L. [Also in Division G4] In a lift control system in which the floor selector comprises an electronic counter 2 consisting of bi-stable elements J1 . . . J5 using only static components such as transistors, a memory unit 3 is associated with the counter to restore it to its original state following an interruption of the power supply. The memory unit consists of reed relays R1 . . . R5 which are magnetically latched in either operated condition, their contacts R1C ... R5C being connected to " set " inputs 6 of the bi-stable elements. Upon resumption of the supply those bi-stable elements whose associated contacts were open are first restored by a signal to " set " inputs 7; after a delay determined by Z3, C3 this signal is removed, allowing restoration of those elements whose contacts were closed, and after a further delay (Z4, C4) the signal to all the contacts is removed to allow normal operation. The counter is operated via NAND/NOR gates by signals which indicate whether the car is running, its direction, and the passing of landings. At terminal floors limit switches set the counter to the appropriate state, should it have fallen out of step. The counter is connected to a " de-coding unit " 4 which operates the lift control or indicating circuits.
