Abstract

1,162,433. Buckles. HOWARD WALL Ltd. 27 May, 1968 [4 March, 1967; 18 Nov., 1967], Nos. 10323/67 and 52568/67. Heading E2A. A safety harness buckle comprises an outer casing 11, a cover 17, a press button 19, a bulkhead 12 mounted within the casing, a pair of carriers 13, a catch 15 for engagement with an aperture in a plate 16 to which one end (63) of a strap of the harness is attached, a lever 14, depression of which moves the catch 15 to a releasing position, in which the catch 15 and the lever 14 are pivoted to the carriers 13 and the bulkhead 12 supports the carriers and the cover. As shown, in Which the other end (62) of the strap is adjustably attached to a slidable bar 18, the press-button 19 is operable to pivot the lever 14 whereby to disengage the catch 15 from the plate 16 which is then ejected from the casing by a spring 22. The lever 14 is loaded by a spring 20 and the catch 15 is loaded by a spring 21.
