Pharmaceutical compositions for treating gout comprise 4-hydroxy-pyrazolo-(3, 4-d)- pyrimidine and an inidolyl aliphatic acid of the general formula: wherein R 1 is a p-chlorobenzoyl, p-chloro- 'benzyl, p-methylthiobenzoyl or p-methylthiobenzyl radical, R 3 is H or Me, R 5 is a methoxy or dialkylamino radical and M is a hydroxy, benzyloxy, C 1-5 alkoxy or an OZ radical where Z is a pharmaceutically acceptable cation. They may be in conventional forms for oral and parenteral administration and may include other uricosuric agents eg a dialkylsulplamoyl benzoic acid; phenyl-quinoline carboxylic acid; an amino chloro-benzoxazole or a phenyl butazone.
