Abstract

1,161,806. Coated motor vehicle body. DAIMLER-BENZ A.G. 29 Sept., 1966 [9 Oct., 1965], No. 43515/66. Heading B2K. A motor vehicle body has a protective coating comprising a resilient synthetic plastics layer between two harder layers of paint. The term "paint" includes varnish, cellulose or lacquer, whether transparent or pigmented. The body may be pre-treated before the first coat of paint is applied e.g. by cleaning and freeing of grease and phosplhatising, followed by rinsing with water and drying. The intermediate layer and/or the outer layer may have respectively different thicknesses at different places on the vehicle body work. The resilient layer may be composed of polyvinyl chloride, polyurethane, or epoxide, and may contain pigments and/or fillers such as glass fibre, glass wall, synthetic plastics beads. The cuter layer may be coloured or transparent. Each layer may be dried or baked separately instead of drying the coating as a whole.
