Abstract

The surface is coated with at least two layers of polymer including a base coat of thermosetting or thermoplastics resin and a transparent top-coat of thermosetting or thermoplastics resin. The pigment in the base coat is present as about 1-20% by weight, while that in the topcoat is a lesser amount. - The topcoat pigment is in a pigment-to-binder weight ratio of about .002:1 to about 0.30:1. The topcoat has a thickness of about 1.5-3.0 mm.. The pigment colour in the topcoat can be complementary or divergent w.r.t. the pigment in the base coat.
