Abstract

Seals and sealing. - A plug driven into a spile-hole or tap-hole of a cask, &c., is sealed by a metal cap A, Fig. 4, having a toothed rim a adapted to be driven into the wood of the vessel. In order to apply the metal cap A, it is engaged by a holder D, Fig. 2, arranged to elide on a part C secured to a shank B, which is adapted to be struck by a hammer, &c. A spring E presses the holder D downwards relatively to the part C.
